Title Specialist


The purpose of this job is to serve as the internal title specialist for the organization to resolve any issue presented from staff or from members. The title specialist will be the go-to individual for any title question. Daily duties include processing titles and verifying bank s lien is perfected on the title. Daily interaction will include credit union employees, insurance companies, Departments of Motor Vehicle (DMV), vehicle dealerships, and members.


  • Knowledgeable of lien instruments on all types of Motor Vehicles pledged for collateral on loans in-state and out-of-state; duties will include verifying title documents are accurately completed by the loan officer, forward title documents to the DMV s, maintaining records of filings, disbursing checks to DMV and dealers, renewing or releasing of lien filings.
  • Responsible for researching title issues, correcting title work and answering title questions in a timely manner including interacting with DMV s, insurance companies, dealerships personnel to resolve issues.
  • Knowledgeable of out-of-state and local titling requirements and responsible for creating and maintaining state-specific informational title packets for members.
  • Promptly answers incoming calls regarding titles from credit union staff, members, DMVs and insurance companies.
  • Understands DMV regulations, fees and charges for all states.
  • Initiates contact with DMV regarding title questions in-state and out-of-state and with insurance companies regarding title questions in-state and out-of-state on total losses.
  • Process registration applications on the ELT site with different states as they become available.
  • Creates and maintains checklists and references material regarding title processes, policies and procedures related to titles.
  • Ability to complete; cross training title duties as requested, paid listing report within set deadlines, responding to and drafting emails regarding all title items within set deadlines, finalizing all activities sent to titles within set deadlines, processing lien releases, necessary documents for a vehicle to be transported, processing and handling of insurance claims on damaged or totaled vehicles, processing title guarantees for insurance companies, product cancellation to include GAP, extend warranty/mechanical breakdown contracts, etc. Communicates with members on process
  • May be required to travel to the local DMV to handle title issues as needed.
  • Completing requests regarding duplicate titles and assisting staff as needed and pending title process for indirect loans to include following up with dealerships to ensure lien filing is completed and helps resolve outstanding issues.
  • Notarizes title documents.
  • Provides world-class quality service to internal and external customers and members in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Attends required training.
  • Complies with Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Regular on-time attendance is required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Full Time estimated 40 hours per week.


Assists in supervising title clerk intern.

Yes, a valid, non-expired driver s license is required for this position. The individual must have means of transportation to perform work assignments to travel to complete essential job responsibilities.


High school diploma or GED. Prior clerical experience preferred. Prior titling experience highly desirable.

Must be proficient in computer skills and possess the ability to learn and use the Credit Union s equipment and software programs. Ability to maintain confidential information and release this information in accordance with Credit Union guidelines. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole and decimal numbers. Ability to calculate percentages. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation needed to prepare a variety of materials accurately from written sources. Ability to understand, interpret, and follow detailed procedures promptly and completely. Ability to organize workload so that maximum can be accomplished in time allotted. Must have a strong attention to detail. Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Possess a professional phone manner and member service attitude. Ability to accurately explain situations to others, using financial language and terms. Ability to thoroughly understand nature and cause of problems, and what needs to be done to correct them. Must be assertive when it comes to acquiring necessary time sensitive documentation with maintaining a high level of service.

Pay: $17.57/hour- $21.00/hour (depending upon experience)

Schedule: 8:15 AM- 5:15 PM (Monday- Friday) or 8:30 am- 5:30pm
